When a tooth is lost, dentistry offers various options to replace the missing space: • The ideal mode of tooth replacement is Dental Implant. A titanium-based implant is placed in the bone in the space where the root of tooth was present. After a period of time during which the implant becomes part of the natural jaw bone, an abutment is connected with the implant. Then impression is made and a crown or bridge is fixed on the abutment/s. • A bridge is done when the bone is not suitable for an implant or the cost of implant is too expensive. For making a bridge two or more teeth are grinded that are present adjacent to the missing area. An impression is made and a bridge is manufactured to fit on those abutment teeth and cover the space of missing tooth/teeth. • When there is unavailability of strong teeth to take up the load of a bridge or too many teeth have been lost, then the option of removable appliances is chosen. Acrylic Dentures, Cast Partial dentures or CC-plates & Flexible dentures are the options that may be chosen to fulfill the requirements.
